Just to sort out the ideas:

1) Media Applications

  • Raytracing
  • creating music

2) Scientific Applications

  • Simulation (e.g. Game of life - one node is one artificial lifeform)
  • Image processing (edge/object detection)
  • TestFrameworks

3) Business Applications

  • Batch processing system (like report processing)
  • Crawling/Spider jobs (indexing an intra net)
  • fighting Email-Spam
